The Australian Cattle Dog is alert, curious, and pleasant to have around. This pooch is adorable, too. You can check them out from the Australian Cattle Dog photos shown below.
According to the American Kennel Club (AKC), this purebred is part of the herding group. Just as their name states, this pooch was bred to herd cattle. They are an energetic breed and love to work, so they’ll do best with an active family. The Australian Cattle Dog will prefer to live in a house where they can stretch their legs and run around in a fenced-in backyard. Going to the dog park and taking long, daily walks will help curb their energy levels too. Luckily, they’re not barkers. However, they do make great watchdogs.
Australian Cattle Dogs might be wary of strangers at first, but they’re friendly pups overall. So, once they realize the stranger is not a threat, they’ll be okay. This pooch is also great with kids and other dogs in the home. But, of course, due to their herding instincts, they might tend to herd young kids, cats, or even small animals. So, proper training and early socialization will be a must. Luckily, Australian Cattle Dogs are intelligent and easy to train. They’re eager to learn something new and will be pick up on what to do and what not to do easily.
