If you want to know what this cross looks like, we have some Bassador photos for you to view here.
Bassadors are a breed many people have never heard of, and that’s because they’re technically not a breed. The Bassador is a creative name for the mix of a Labrador and a Basset hound. It’s important to take care when purchasing a mixed breed dog, as backyard breeders are prone to mixing. However, it is still possible to find a healthy and well-adjusted dog if you do your research!
While Basset hounds are short, stocky dogs with floppy ears and short legs, Labradors are much larger and more evenly proportioned. Your Bassador will be a mix between the two in stature, though it’s hard to say exactly which breed they’ll take after more.
A Gentle Bread
Labradors are gentle, family dogs and Basset hounds love their humans so chances are, you’ll have a very affectionate puppy on your hands! They shouldn’t be too much of a challenge to train, though you should ensure you look out for a prey drive. Keep introductions to other pets slow and easy, especially if the pet is smaller. You should also work hard on their recall and “leave it” verbal cues, with the understanding this can take months to become reliable.
As long as you work hard with this mix and keep up with their socialization and training, they can make a truly wonderful pet.
