Did you know that two of the most intelligent dog breeds in the world are the Poodle and the Border Collie? If you cross them together, you get the amazing Bordoodle. It’s believed that this hybrid was created accidentally. Today, breeders have been working to improve this mixed breed. Bordoodles take the best traits from both of their parent breeds and make a wonderful family companion dog. If you want to learn more about adopting this dog, then keep reading about Bordoodle puppies below.

Where To Get Bordoodle Puppies

You should be able to find Bordoodle puppies where ever you can adopt dogs. To start, you can call your local animal shelter or a breed-specific rescue organization for Bordoodles, Poodles, or Border Collies. You may be able to find puppies, adults, or seniors. The best part about going through a shelter or rescue is that you’re saving a dog’s life. B.R.bordoodles…

Alternatively, if you want to know more about the dog’s background and health, you can adopt a puppy from a reputable breeder. However, be wary of puppy mills and backyard breeders. These breeders are more interested in making a profit rather than finding the dogs a good home. Also, they don’t breed the pups in healthy conditions.

Usually, a good breeder would be registered with the AKC, but since Bordoodles are a mixed breed, the AKC doesn’t recognize them yet. However, you can use a few other things to tell if a breeder is good or not.

For example, an ethical breeder will do the following:

  • Have extensive knowledge of the mixed breed and the parent breeds
  • Get the parents health screen before breeding and then health screen the puppies
  • Ensure the puppies are up to date on all their vaccinations
  • Meet with you in person so you can meet them, the litter, and the parents
  • Socialize and train the puppies as early as possible

The Cost

You can expect to pay somewhere between $700 and $1,500 for this puppy. Bordoodles are becoming more popular, thus in high demand, which may increase the price. However, they’ll be less expensive if you can go through a rescue or animal shelter.

Appearance

Bordoodles can take after either parent in appearance, but they’ll most likely have a medium curly coat. You may or may not get a hypoallergenic Bordoodle. Poodles don’t shed, but Border Collies do so that it will depend on genetics. Still, most Poodle mixes shed significantly less.

Overall, Bordoodles are a medium-sized dog breed. They can stand to be about 12 to 22 inches tall and weigh between 35 and 65 pounds. In addition, they have an average lifespan of 11 to 16 years. Valleyoodles…

Temperament

Bordoodles make an excellent family companion dog. For instance, they’re affectionate with their family members, great with young children, seniors, dogs, cats, and are even open to meeting new people. In addition, they’re active and have high energy levels. So, ample physical activity and mental stimulation every day will be good for them.

Luckily, they’re social, so you can bring them to the dog park or doggy daycare to curb their energy and to get out of the house for a bit.

Overall, Bordoodles are easy to train, loyal, great for first-time dog owners, friendly, outgoing, and playful. Also, they love swimming and hiking. B.R.bordoodles…

Bordoodle Puppies – Veterinary Needs

As a puppy, you and your Bordoodle will visit the vet multiple times during the first year. This is to ensure that your doggo is growing and developing properly. Also, you want them to be up to date on all their shots. After the first year, you’ll only need to take them annually for their checkup.

However, Bordoodles can inherit health issues from both parent breeds, such as the ones below:

Diet

You can feed your Bordoodle just about anything as long as your vet approves it. Also, the dog food should be appropriate to their breed size, age, and weight, so you be sure your pup is getting the nutrients they need.

Feeding can be done through high-quality kibble or canned food from commercial dog food brands, or you can create your homemade recipes for your pooch to try. You can talk to your vet about what the best option may be for your doggo.

In addition, since Bordoodles are such an active dog breed, they’ll do well on a diet that’s high in protein. Flo…

Grooming

Grooming will depend on what type of coat they inherit from their parents. Thanks to the Poodle parent, this pooch most likely won’t shed too much, but you’ll still have to brush their coat weekly. Not only will it keep any loose hairs under control, but it will also ensure the coat doesn’t get too tangled or matted.

Bordoodles love to be outside and join in on family adventures. You won’t need to bathe them regularly, but if you go on a hike and get dirty, you’ll want to bathe them as necessary to keep their coat and skin healthy. In addition, be sure to trim their nails, brush their teeth, and clean their ears regularly. Casa…
