Have you ever heard of the Affenhuahua dog breed? Also known as the Affen Chi, this dog is a mixed breed of the Affenpinscher and the Chihuahua. They’re small dogs that can grow to be about six to 12 inches tall and weigh between four and 12 pounds. Their coat can come in various colors such as black, brown, fawn, cream, solid, or mixed. Also, they have an average lifespan of about 13 to 18 years due to their small size.
It’s believed that this crossbreed has been around for years on its own. However, in the late 1990s and early 2000s, breeders began to intentionally create this hybrid in the United States. Breeders wanted a lapdog that was alert and could tell their owners of danger nearby. Even though this dog breed is pretty small, they’re mighty.
The Affenhuahua Is An Energetic Dog
This mixed dog breed did inherit some of the best traits from its parents. For example, they’re known to be sassy and highly energetic. You’ll be able to happily keep this dog in an apartment, or they’ll do just as well in a bigger house with a fenced-in yard. However, they can be territorial and bark a lot. In addition, they’ll prefer to live with single families. They can get along well with young children if they are raised together, and the dog is given proper training and socialization. When it comes to other dogs, they’ll prefer to be the only ones. Remember, this mixed breed was bred to be a lapdog, so they’ll want to have your attention almost all the time.
Overall, Affenhuahuas are great family dogs. They’re easy to train, entertaining to be around, and love to play. However, they don’t require much exercise due to their small size. Also, grooming is easy, and they don’t shed too much which makes the affenhuahua an ideal dog.
