If you want to see a big dog, look no further than the Akita Chow. This is a mixed breed of the Akita and the Chow Chow. Also known as the Chakita, this dog breed can grow to be about 23 to 25 inches tall and weigh between 88 and 145 pounds. They also have an average lifespan of about ten to 12 years. If you see this crossbreed, they could have a few coat colors such as silver, fawn, red, brown, black, white, solid, or mixed.

It’s not quite known where this hybrid came from or when. However, it’s believed that this crossbreed happened naturally many years ago. Now breeders breed the Akita Chow to be family dogs. However, while they’ll make a good companion dog, don’t expect them to be lovey-dovey with you. They are not overly affectionate, but they will protect you, the family, and the territory. Also, they’re extremely loyal.

The Akita Chow – A Smart Dog

If you live in a bigger house with a fenced-in yard and are home most of the time, then the Akita Chow will fit right in. They’ll do best in households that have older children or no children at all. Also, if you’re an active family, then the Akita Chow will enjoy joining you on outdoor adventures. However, when it comes to training, you’ll need the help of a professional dog trainer unless you’re an experienced dog owner. Akita Chows are stubborn, independent, and intelligent. So, they’ll have a mind of their own when it comes to proper training.

When it comes to training, you can ensure that grooming their coat doesn’t require much. You’ll want to bring them to a professional grooming salon once in a while for a good cleaning. However, they shed a lot and won’t be ideal for allergy sufferers. In fact, be sure to brush their coat daily to keep the shedding under control. Also, they have high energy levels, so you’ll want to keep them physically fit and mentally stimulated most of the time.
