The Boxweiler is a cross between the Boxer and the Rottweiler. Because they’re a mixed breed dog, they’ll likely come in a variety of colors and could be anything from black to brindle. Boxers and Rottweilers have different coat patterns, so your dog is sure to be a mix of the two. They’ll have short coats, but will still shed. Still, they don’t need to be brushed as much as a dog with a long coat might be!
They’ll be fairly large, powerful dogs due to the breeds involved in their creation. This, along with their high energy levels, meaning they may not be suited to apartment living. If you do live in an apartment, you’ll have to ensure you take your dog for long walks every day. A bored dog is a destructive dog, and the last thing you want is a pup who chews on the furniture because their needs aren’t being met.
They’re also highly intelligent, so mental stimulation can help wear them out just as easily. Puzzle toys and enrichment activities are great for this. They should learn both manners and tricks fairly easily. They can be a little stubborn at times so if you hit a roadblock, just be patient with them. Remember, losing your temper isn’t going to help things! Have patience and use plenty of positive reinforcement to bring them around.
Boxweiler – A Super Loyal Dog
These dogs are very loyal, but aren’t too keen on being alone and may be prone to separation anxiety. It’s important to work with them early and teach them how to be alone as yes, this is something dogs often need to be taught! If you take the time to train and socialize this dog well, you’ll have a truly wonderful companion on your hands. A wonderful dog that you will enjoy owning.
