The Bull Arab was a dog originally bred in Australia to be used for hunting pigs. They are medium to large-sized and incredibly muscular due to the job people developed them to do. They have a white, short coat with patches of tan or brindle. Although their coat is short, they do tend to shed quite a bit. The grooming itself is low-maintenance, but you may find that they agitate your allergies.
These dogs are calm and have great temperaments with their people. They’re loyal and loving, and very intelligent. They take well to training, though it may require some patience when they’re puppies — but this is true of any dog! Make sure you’re giving them enough exercise and outlets for their energy, and everything will be much easier. Although these dogs seem calm, they still do need a good bit of exercise every day to keep that temperament.
Bull Arab – A Breed People Are Wary Of
Much like pitbull-type dogs, these pups have a reputation for being aggressive. That may scare some people off owning them. The truth is, as long as you train and socialize your pup from an early age, they’re no more likely to be aggressive than any other dog. The Bull Arab, however, was used for hunting, so it is important to be mindful of that. They may not get along with small animals, and should never be left alone unsupervised.
In Australia, it’s fairly common to find Bull Arabs in shelters. Due to their temperament, they’re abandoned a lot, which is extremely sad. However, as they’re much rarer in the US, you may need to look for a breeder to get one. Just remember, any dog needs a gentle but firm hand with training and plenty of socialization. That’s how you get a good dog!
