The Bulldog is a purebred dog breed that’s part of the non-sporting group. This dog breed can also be known as the English Bulldog or the British Bulldog. For instance, this doggo came from England in the 1200s, so it’s been around for a long time. Initially bred for cattle driving and bull-baiting, the Bulldog is now a family companion dog. For example, Bulldogs are courageous, but they’re also friendly and calm.

For example, the Bulldog is affectionate and loyal to its family members. Also, they’re great when it comes to meeting new people. However, when it comes to other dogs and young children, they’ll need time to warm up to them. Luckily, Bulldogs are easy to train, but they’ll need plenty of early socialization and training.

Bulldogs are medium-sized dogs. For instance, they can grow about 14 to 15 inches tall. On the other hand, males can weigh up to 50 pounds while females can weigh up to 40 pounds. In addition, they have a short and smooth coat that sheds moderately. So, you’ll want to brush their coat at least once a week. In addition, you can bring them to a professional grooming salon at least once a month or every other month to give them a good cleaning. Finally, Bulldogs drool moderately. So, be sure to wash their face daily to keep infection and odor away.

The Bulldog – A Low Energy Dog

In addition to grooming, Bulldogs are low-energy dogs. So, they’ll do fine in an apartment or a bigger house with a fenced-in yard. However, you still need to provide at least 30 minutes of physical activity a day to keep them healthy and fit. For example, take them on a long, daily walk.

Finally, be sure to bring them to the vet at least once a year for their checkup since they’re prone to certain health issues. Overall, the Bulldog has an average lifespan of about eight to ten years with proper care.
