The Chi-Poo is a mixed breed of the Chihuahua and the Toy Poodle or the Miniature Poodle. Also known as the Wapoo, Poochi, Choodle, or Chipoodle, this designer dog originated in the 1970s to be a family companion dog. They’re low-maintenance to care for and will fit in with any family type, especially ones that live a busy lifestyle. In addition, they can live in an apartment or a bigger house with a fenced-in yard.
Chi-Poos are small dogs, with males slightly bigger and heavier than females. For example, males can grow to be about nine to 13 inches tall and weigh between ten and 20 pounds. On the other hand, females can stand to be seven to 12 inches tall and weigh between eight and 18 pounds. In addition, this dog can look many different ways. For instance, their coat type and coloring depend on which parent breed they take after the most.
Chi-Poo – A Great Family Dog
With that said, grooming needs are minimal for this doggo. For example, Chihuahuas aren’t hypoallergenic, but Poodles are. Chances are, the Chi-Poo will be hypoallergenic, or they’ll shed very little. So, you’ll only need to worry about brushing their coat about once a week or so to keep it looking nice. Also, the Chi-Poo has moderate energy levels. However, they don’t require too much physical activity due to their size. About 45 minutes of exercise every day will be enough to keep them healthy and fit. For example, they’ll enjoy long walks with you or running around in a fenced-in yard. This doggo can inherit many health issues from its parents, so bring them to the vet for their annual checkup once a year.
Overall, Chi-Poos are an excellent family dog. For instance, they’re loyal and affectionate with their family members, being great lapdogs. Also, they’re great with young children, other dogs, and meeting new people.
