The Chion has many different names, such as the Pap-Chi, Chi-A-Pap, Pap-Wa, Chi-Pap, and Papihuahua. Can you guess which two purebreds make up this crossbreed? The Chion comes from the Chihuahua and the Papillon. Initially bred in 2001, this mixed breed was a family companion dog, and they succeeded. Overall, Chions are small, intelligent dogs looking for a lap to sit in.

This dog breed is small, but males are a tad larger and heavier than females, but not by much. For example, males can grow to be about seven to 11 inches tall, while females can grow between six and 11 inches tall. On the other hand, males can weigh between eight and ten pounds while females can weigh between four and nine pounds. In addition, they can have a few different coat colors, such as white, fawn, brown, cream, or black. Of course, the Chions can inherit their looks from either parent breed.

Chion – A Great Family Dog

Chions have an average lifespan of about 12 to 14 with proper care. For example, they don’t require much grooming, but they shed. So, you’ll want to brush their coat at least three to four times per week, if not daily. Also, they have moderate energy levels and don’t require much physical activity. However, you’ll want to get them outside for at least 30 to 45 minutes to keep them healthy and fit. They’ll do well in an apartment or a bigger house with a fenced-in yard. Finally, this mixed breed can inherit specific health issues from either parent, so bring them to the vet for their annual checkup at least once a year.

Overall, the Chion is an excellent family companion dog. For instance, they’re loyal and affectionate with their family members. Also, they’re great with young children, other dogs, and meeting new people. However, you should give them early training and early socialization like all dogs.
