Also known as the Cockalier Spaniel, the Cockalier is a mixed breed of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and the Cocker Spaniel. Initially bred as a companion dog, this designer breed resides in England and the United States. This dog breed is easy to train, friendly, and gentle. So, they’re a great choice for any family.

The Cockalier is a medium-sized dog with males being slightly bigger than females. For instance, males can grow to be about 12 to 15 inches tall, while females can grow between 12 to 14 inches tall. On the other hand, males can weigh 12 to 28 pounds, and females can weigh between ten to 25 pounds. When it comes to their appearance, this mixed breed can take after either parent breed but will most likely have the same build as the Cocker Spaniel. Also, they’ll most likely have a medium-length coat with a color of sable, black, red, brown, or white.

The Cockalier – A Loyal And Friendly Breed

This dog breed has an average lifespan of about ten to 14 years with proper care. For instance, they love to be groomed because they enjoy the time with their owner. So, use grooming as a bonding opportunity. To keep their fur looking clean and untangled, you’ll want to brush their coat at least once a week. Also, you can give them an occasional bath, but they won’t need it often. In addition, the Cockalier has moderate energy levels, but they need a good 75 minutes of physical activity. They have a strong sense of smell and will enjoy exploring a fenced-in yard. However, they can do well in an apartment if their energy needs are met.

Overall, the Cockalier is friendly and gentle. For instance, they’re loyal and affectionate with their family members. However, they’re prone to separation anxiety. However, they’re also great with young children, other dogs, and new people. They’ll bark at strangers first and need proper training and early socialization.
