The Doberdor is a mixed breed between the Doberman Pinscher and the Labrador Retriever. Initially bred in North America in the 2000s, this crossbreed is courageous, loyal, and protective. Although however, this dog breed was bred to be a guard dog, they also make excellent family companion dogs.
For instance, this hybrid is loyal and affectionate with its family members. Doberdors take a lot of great qualities from both of their parent breeds. So, this crossbreed is great around young children as well. In addition, they’re okay meeting new people and other dogs. However, you can provide them with early socialization and training. So, if you’re looking for a dog who will get along with the family and be a great watchdog, then the Doberdor will be a great choice.
This dog breed is medium to large-sized, with males slightly bigger than females. For example, male Doberdors can grow about 25 to 28 inches tall and weigh between 75 and 95 pounds. On the other hand, females can grow to be about 24 to 27 inches tall and weigh between 65 and 80 pounds. In addition, they have a short and smooth coat. However, they can look like either one of their parents.
Doberdor – An Active Dog
Luckily, grooming is low-maintenance. Doberdors do not shed too much, but you’ll still want to brush their coat at least once a week to keep them clean. On the other hand, they need plenty of playtime. The Doberdor has high energy levels and needs about 75 minutes of exercise per day. Once they’re socialized and trained well enough, you can bring them to the dog park to get their energy out.
In addition, this mixed breed is prone to inheriting some health issues from both parents. So, bring your doggo to the vet at least once a year for their annual checkup. The Doberdor has an average lifespan of about ten to 14 years with proper care.
