The Doberman Pinscher is a purebred dog breed part of the working group. Also known as the Doberman, Dobermann, Dobie, or Dobe, this breed comes from Germany in the 1900s. Initially bred to be a guardian dog, this doggo is fearless, loyal, and alert. Today, they’re an excellent family companion dog.

For example, the Doberman Pinscher is loyal and affectionate with its family members. In addition, they’re excellent around young children and love meeting new people. However, they might be wary around other dogs at first, but they’ll quickly get along well with proper training and early socialization. In addition, this dog breed makes an excellent watchdog. They’ll bark to alert you of something, but they’ll still be friendly to strangers. So, you don’t need to worry about this doggo being aggressive.

They’re large dogs, with males being bigger than females. For example, males can grow to be about 26 to 28 inches tall and weigh between 75 and 100 pounds. On the other hand, females can grow to be about 24 to 26 inches tall and weigh between 60 and 90 pounds. In addition, the Doberman Pinscher has a short and smooth coat that requires little grooming. However, they shed a lot. So, to keep the loose hairs under control, you’ll want to brush their coat at least three to four times per week.

Also, Doberman Pinschers have high energy levels. Therefore, they won’t do well living in an apartment. So, you’ll need to provide a bigger house with a fenced-in yard for them. Then they can run around to their heart’s content. Also, long walks, hikes, and jogs will be good for them.

Finally, Doberman Pinschers are known to get some health issues. So, you’ll want to bring them to the vet at least once a year for their annual checkup. Also, keep them up to date with their vaccinations. With proper care, this purebred has an average lifespan of about ten to 12 years.
