Have you ever heard of a Doxiepoo before? This crossbreed is a mixture of the Dachshund and the Poodle. There are three sizes to both of these purebred dogs, so the sizing of the Doxiepoo may vary. This hybrid goes by many other names, such as the Doodle, Dachdoodle, Doxiedoodle, Doxiepoodle, Dachshunddoodle, or the Dachshundpoo. Initially bred in the United States in the 2000s, this dog breed is a companion for families.
For instance, this dog breed is small to medium-sized. They can grow between eight and 21 inches tall while weighing anywhere between five and 30 pounds. Of course, their size will depend on which Dachshund and Poodle sizes are bred together: Toy, Miniature, or Standard. In addition, the Doxiepoo’s coat will vary. For example, it can be curly or wavy but is typically dense. Luckily, the Doxiepoo is considered hypoallergenic because of its Poodle parent. So, you won’t need to worry about too much shedding and fur all over your house and clothes. Also, they don’t drool. However, you’ll still want to brush your Doxiepoo’s coat at least once a day to keep tangles and mats away.
The Doxiepoo – An Active Dog
In addition, this dog breed needs at least an hour of physical activity every day. However, they have moderate energy levels, so they’ll do well with long walks or simply playing games with you in the yard. Also, they’ll be fine in an apartment or a bigger house with a fenced-in yard, as long as they get the room to roam on their own.
Finally, this mixed breed is prone to getting certain health issues from both of its parent breeds. So, you’ll want to bring them to the vet at least once a year for their annual checkup. Also, be sure to keep them up to date with their vaccinations. This dog breed has an average lifespan of about 12 to 15 years with proper care.
