The Labradane is a crossbreed between the Labrador Retriever and the Great Dane. Initially bred in the United States for companionship, it’s unknown when this dog breed was established. However, there’s a lot to love about this hybrid. For example, Labradanes are gentle, active, and social. They’re great as family companion dogs, therapy dogs, or service dogs.

For example, Labradanes are loyal and affectionate with their family members. In addition, they’re great with young children, seniors, other dogs, and meeting new people. However, they make a great watchdog and bark to alert you of something. Luckily, they’re easy to train. So, with early socialization and training, unwanted behaviors can be nipped in the bud. Overall, this dog breed fits in well with most families. In addition, they’re active dogs, so they’ll enjoy having a family that participates in outdoor activities.

Labradane – A Loyal Big Dog

Labradanes need about 45 minutes of physical activity per day. However, they enjoy hiking, jogging, long walks, and even swimming. They’ll do well in a bigger house with a fenced-in yard rather than an apartment.

For example, the Labradane is a large dog breed with males bigger than females. For instance, males can grow to be about 28 to 30 inches tall and weigh between 160 and 180 pounds. On the other hand, females can grow to be about 26 to 28 inches tall and weigh between 140 and 160 pounds. They typically have a short and smooth coat but look like either parent breed. Their coat doesn’t require much grooming, so this is a relatively low-maintenance breed. However, Labradanes shed moderately. So, you’ll want to brush their coat at least once a week.

Finally, this mixed breed can inherit specific health issues from either parent breed. So, be sure to bring them to the vet at least once a year for their annual checkup. This crossbreed has an average lifespan of about eight to 12 years with proper care.
