The Mudi is a purebred dog breed that’s part of the herding group. Also known as the Driver Dog, this breed comes from Hungary, dating back to the 1920s. Initially bred to be a herding dog, the Mudi is an excellent family companion dog today. For example, they’re loyal, intelligent, and active.

There’s a lot to love about this dog breed. Mudi dogs are loyal and affectionate with their family members. In addition, they’re great around young children, other dogs, and meeting new people. However, they’re also a great watchdog. So, they’ll bark to alert you of something. However, they enjoy barking to get your attention and also because they like to talk a lot. Also, they might be wary of strangers and other dogs at first. So, they need early socialization and proper training. Luckily, this dog breed is easy to train.

Mudi – A Great Family Dog

Mudi dogs are medium-sized. For example, they can grow between 15 to 18.5 inches tall and weigh between 18 and 29 pounds. In addition, this doggo has a medium curly coat that requires little grooming. You can bring them to a professional grooming salon once in a while, but it’s unnecessary. However, they shed a little bit, and they do drool. So, about once a week, you’ll want to brush their coat and wash their face. It’ll keep their face clean and their coat looking nice.

In addition, the Mudi has high energy levels. They need about 60 minutes of physical activity per day. They can live well in an apartment but prefer being in a bigger house with a fenced-in yard. Also, this dog breed is prone to getting specific health issues. So, be sure to bring them to the vet at least once a year for their annual checkup. This doggo has an average lifespan of about 12 to 14 years with proper care.
