The Patterdale Terrier is a purebred dog breed that’s not yet recognized. This doggo goes by a couple of other nicknames, such as the Black Fell Terrier, Old English Terrier, and the Fell Terrier. This dog breed dates back to the 1950s in the United Kingdom. Initially bred for hunting and as a companion dog, this pup is still a great companion dog today. For example, the Patterdale Terrier is friendly, protective, and energetic. They’ll fit in with any household.

For example, the Patterdale Terrier is loyal and affectionate with their family members. They’re cuddly, so you can expect to have a buddy on the couch to watch TV with you. In addition, they’re already great around young children, other dogs, and meeting new people. They will bark to alert you if strangers come to the house, but they’re not an aggressive breed. This pup will keep an eye out for you and quickly warm pup to new people. However, as with all dog breeds, the Patterdale Terrier needs early socialization and training. Luckily, this dog breed is easy to train.

Patterdale Terriers are small dogs. For instance, they can grow about 12 to 15 inches tall and weigh between 11 and 13 pounds. In addition, they have a short and smooth coat that doesn’t require too much grooming. However, they do shed a little bit. So, you’ll want to keep up with brushing their coat at least once a week to help keep the loose hairs under control.

Finally, this dog breed has moderate energy levels. As long as they get their daily exercise in, they’ll live well in an apartment. However, they’ll also enjoy having a bigger house with a fenced-in yard. Also, they can inherit specific health issues from both parents. So, be sure to bring them to the vet at least once a year for their annual checkup.
