If you aren’t quite sure what a Rottador is, that could be because it’s not a purebred dog. It’s actually a mix of a Labrador and Rottweiler.
If you’re buying from a breeder, it’s important to consider the fact that mixed breeds are often unethically brought into the world. This is because mixed breed dogs can’t have AKC papers. Therefore, they’re easier to fake, and a breeder who fakes dogs fakes other things. They may not be health tested or socialized well. Always do your research! It’s easy to find Rottador-type dogs in shelters, which are usually better, because they don’t contribute to unethical practices.
You can expect your Rottador to be a large, sturdy dog. They’ll likely be muscular with a short, smooth coat that sheds quite a bit. They could come in a variety of colors, because they may take after the Lab parent or they may take after the Rottweiler!
Rottador – A Great Family Pet
Rottweilers and Labradors both make great, intelligent family pets. Socialize and train your dog well to ensure they live up to their full potential. They should learn good manners and tricks fairly easily, as long as you’re patient and consistent. Rottweilers can have strong guarding instincts that your puppy might inherit, however, so it’s important to be careful with strangers. Let them meet lots of people when they’re puppies, if possible, and have strangers give them treats. Take it at the dog’s comfort level!
They may attach themselves to one person in the household. If this happens, you can try to even the score by having someone else feed them! However, their natural instinct means they’ll usually have their “person”, and that’s okay! Just make sure they’re trained well and happy, as that’s mostly what matters. You will absolutely love this dog breed.
