The Samoyed is a very popular breed of dog, and many people want one. How could you not love this adorable fluffball? They are a medium breed who can tend towards the large size, especially if they’re male. They have a curly tail and pricked ears, but the most well-known thing about them is — of course — their fluffy white coat. Make sure you don’t shave this in summer. Many people make this mistake because they assume the dog will be more comfortable, but that’s simply not true.
These dogs are friendly and sociable, and they really love their humans. You can consider them velcro dogs, which is great if you want a pup to dote on. However, they are more prone to separation anxiety than other breeds. This can be a real issue, as dogs with separation anxiety can be destructive and vocal. Make sure you work on preventing this by allowing them to have short periods alone when you’re young and working up. If they do develop separation anxiety, the best choice is a professional trainer.
Samoyed – A Super Smart Breed
If you have a job where you’ll be leaving your Samoyed alone for eight hours a day, you might want to consider another breed!
They’re incredibly intelligent dogs so you’ll notice that they pick up on things fast. Despite that, however, they can be rather stubborn! That means you’ll need a lot of patience when training. For this reason, they may not be the best choice for first-time owners, but it’s certainly doable if you can put in the work. They also have a tendency to alert bark when they hear people around the house. If you live close to other people, be aware that the occasional noise could be bothersome. However, they aren’t constantly vocal. Enjoy this great breed.
