The Samusky is a cross between the Samoyed and the Siberian Husky. When getting a mixed breed dog, if you’re looking at breeders, be careful. Breeders will often breed desirable mixes like the adorable Samusky to make a quick buck. They don’t bother health-testing the parents or ensuring they’re purebred. That means you can get a lot of other breeds mixed in or, worse, an unhealthy dog. It’s important not to support these people who churn out unhealthy, unhappy pups.
However, if you do find a Samusky, they can be absolutely beautiful dogs. They’ll tend towards the medium to large side of things and may take on the Samoyed or the Husky’s coat. Huskies are notorious for their shedding, so beware of this if you suffer from allergies. They’re likely to leave hair all around the house!
Samusky – A Great Family Dog
These dogs have a lot of both physical and mental energy. They do best with a fenced-in yard to run around in but, even with that, you’ll have to take them on a walk every day. Walks are great for dogs because it not only gets them to expend some physical energy, but the sniffing around tires them out too. Mental stimulation is just as important with a Samusky, and you can achieve this by other means too like puzzle toys and lick mats.
They’ll likely get along well with children and other dogs. Although they’re intelligent, they can tend towards the stubborn side and may have a case of selective hearing! Be sure you’re prepared to have patience with your dog and stick to positive reinforcement. If you have any issues with regression or getting your dog to listen to you in the first place, it’s always best to consult a professional trainer. A great breed you will love owning.
