The Terripoo is a cross between the Australian Terrier and the Poodle. Since Poodle mixes are in high demand these days, they’ve become something of a designer breed. This means you need to be careful, as designer breeds often attract unethical breeders looking to make a quick buck. Puppy mills will also churn out unsocialized, unhealthy dogs, and it’s important not to support these businesses so they can’t make more unhappy dogs.
If you do find a legitimate Terripoo, they’re adorable. They’re likely to be very small dogs, since it’s usually a Miniature Poodle that’s used in their breeding. They can come in a variety of colors, and most people hope for the dense, curly coat of the Poodle (though you can’t guarantee coat type from a mix). That’s because this coat won’t shed very much, if they inherit it.
The Terripoo – An Active Breed
This dog is pretty good for new dog owners. They get along well with their people and are the perfect balance of playful and affectionate. They can also get along well with kids and other animals, if raised alongside them. Terriers can be a little snappy with cats so make sure you take introductions slowly though. Even smaller animals can be a bit of a risk due to the Terriers’ prey drive.
They’re highly intelligent and need a lot of stimulation — both physical and mental. They may be small, but they love to run around, so expect a lot of zoomies! A space for them to do this in is a huge plus, whether it’s a backyard or a park on a long leash. If you ignore them and don’t meet their needs, they may become bored and destructive, so prepare yourself! Once you get used to the breed you will quickly fall in love with the dog.
