The Westiepoo is a cross between the West Highland White Terrier and a Poodle (usually a miniature or toy, of course). You should always be careful when purchasing any Poodle mix, however. In recent years, they’ve become a designer breed, which means unethical breeders love to make a quick buck by breeding unhealthy and unhappy puppies. This is highly unfair, so don’t give your money to backyard breeders and puppy mills.
In terms of appearance, this should be a pretty small dog. It may be white, like the Terrier, or it may take the coat color of the Poodle. Most hope for a curly, dense coat like the Poodle as it usually doesn’t shed, making these dogs allergy-friendly.
The Westiepoo – A Smart Dog
Due to their small size, they shouldn’t require too much exercise in terms of intense hikes and the like! However, they are pretty playful and do still like to be on the go. A fenced-in backyard can really help, as it gives them space to run around on their own, but they can do well in apartments. It’s all about putting the effort into your Westiepoo and ensuring they get what they need!
These are also highly intelligent dogs. Potty training may take longer due to their small size and not getting full control of their bladder until they’re bigger, but they should learn things quickly. Trick training is great for mental stimulation, as are many puzzle toys. If these dogs don’t get the stimulation they need, they could become destructive out of sheer boredom. Don’t let that happen and stay on top of their needs, and you’re sure to have a great best friend for life.
Once you do get to know the breed you will quickly fall in love with them. A wonderful friendly dog.
