If you want to know what this breed looks like, check out our Chug photos.
If you’ve never heard of a Chug, that’s understandable. This isn’t actually a breed at all, but a mix between a Pug and Chihuahua.
It has status as a designer breed, but you should be careful when seeking it out. Too often, backyard breeders create mixes without doing any sort of health testing and fail to specify other breeds in the mix. It’s better to be open-minded about what you’re getting and look at shelters and rescues first. If you do decide to go with a breeder, make sure you do your research on them. Otherwise, you might end up facing huge vet bills lately.
A Small Dog
Due to the fact that both breeders are small, you won’t have a very large dog on your hands with a Chug. They might end up flat-faced like their Pug parent, and could have a sturdier or more lean body. They could be a variety of colors but will likely have a short coat, making them low maintenance when it comes to grooming.
These are energetic little dogs who will require a lot of attention and playtime! They also may have a stubborn streak due to having a lot of Chihuahua in them. Prepare to work through that with their training and use positive reinforcement only. Anything else will damage the relationship with your dog.
