If you want to see some Coton Du Tulear photos, we have plenty here to look at.

You may never have heard of the Coton Du Tulear. This breed has a very interesting origin. They are thought to have come from some small white dogs that swam across the Malagasy channel after a shipwreck, and are named after a city in Madagascar!

Their wavy double coat only comes in white in terms of the AKC’s breed standard, though there’s also a black variation. Their coat is extremely soft, and they usually weigh less than 13lb.

They are very loyal and sweet dogs who will be absolutely devoted to the owner that chooses them. They’re also somewhat clownish in nature! That means if you want an amusing companion who will have some hilarious tendencies, this might be the breed. They even have a knack for standing on their hind legs.

Good Watchdogs

One thing to watch out for is that these dogs are alert and territorial. That means plenty of socialization is necessary from a young age to show them that strangers are good. They tend to make for good watchdogs, and will always let you know when something is up. That can be both handy and irritating! Like any dog, you should get a good handle on their training at an early age. This will help curb any of their bad habits.

Only ever use positive reinforcement, as anything else can damage your relationship with your dog. It can also make them fearful and aggressive.

To truly understand this breed you can look at some of these photos of the dog from a puppy right through to a senior dog.
