The Doberman Great Dane mix is called the Doberdane and they are one of the biggest and most imposing dogs you will ever come across. Although the breed is often black you can also get brown, red and fawn versions of the dog.
You’ll certainly want lots of space to have a dog like this and you should be mindful of the increased costs of owning a larger breed. Everything from food to vet bills can multiply quickly given their extra size and the potential that larger breeds have for health problems.
Doberman Great Dane Mix
- They way 100-150lbs
- Stand 25-30 inches tall
- Need at least 1 hour of activity per day
- Make great guard dogs
- Like the companionship of their family
Because of their sheer size the breed would not be suitable for first time dog owners. Despite having an intimidating stature which can scare people they are a wonderfully friendly and often goofy breed. They have only been bred in the last couple of decades so they can been very hard to find.
The Doberbane typically can have either slightly pointy and raised ears or floppy ears and you will typically have yo brush or groom them on a weekly basis.
The dogs are incredibly loyal and although not aggressive they do like to protect their family with a deep bark. The sheer sight of them is enough to ward off many people. Ensuring you train them from a young age is essential given their size. Keeping them under control when around small children is especially important as they can be clumsy.

Although these dogs do need an hour of exercise per day when they are resting they do like to completely chill. You will find them snoozing on the couch for hours on end. Finding a space for yourself on the couch will be the only issue.
