Dog DNA Testing

Embark is on a mission of scientific discovery for dogs—purebreds and mixed breeds alike! This company has a deep love for dogs and a passion for understanding everything about them via dog DNA testing. The humans who created Embark are also on a mission to figure out where dogs first came from and how we can take the best care possible of our four-legged friends.

Where does your dog belong?

It’s not always easy to tell what type of breed your dog is. If you get your pooch from a rescue or shelter, then they’re most likely a mixed breed. But what breeds make up your furry friend? Embark has two different DNA tests for you to choose from. One of them is the Breed ID, while the other is the Breed & Health ID. Both of these will allow you to find out what breed your dog is and what percentage breed they are. In addition, you can see your dog’s family tree and connect with their relatives (if they’re also on Embark). If you opt in to get the health ID as well, you’ll get to see physical traits and potential health issues that run in your dog’s family.

Simple Dog DNA Testing

Luckily for you, all you need to do is order the kit and, when it arrives, swab the inside of your dog’s cheek. Then you bag it up, ship it back to the lab, and wait two to four weeks for your results to come in. (No worries, if you lose the swab or don’t get enough saliva, Embark will send you a replacement kit for free.) After that, you can get the results through their website or their app on your phone. This way, you can have all the information at your fingertips.

You’ll be able to pinpoint your dog’s DNA through 350 dog breeds and top-notch scientific testing. In addition, depending on what your pup’s breed is, there will be information about that particular breed. So, you can get to know your pooch on another level and really see what makes them tick.
