Drentsche Patrijshond Photos

Not sure what this breed looks like? We have some Drentsche Patrijshond photos here for you to browse.
The Drentsche Patrijshond looks very much like a spaniel. They’re only ever white with brown markings and have a dense coat, but it’s not very long at all. This means their grooming needs are moderate, as they will need frequent brushing to prevent mats from happening within that coat. They have floppy ears and tend to be medium-sized, sitting as tall as 25″.
Breeders first created them in the Netherland and they are hunting dogs. Unlike many other hunting dogs, however, they’re quite relaxed in the home. Don’t let their use put you off or think they’d be high-maintenance. These easygoing dogs make great companions and are very sweet with children. In fact, they love their kids, and are usually very trustworthy.
Due to their hunting instinct, however, small pets can be another story. If you take introductions slowly, they may get along with cats. However, smaller animals are a no-go. Never leave them unsupervised with cats or any other small animal.
An Active Dog
They’re happiest in the outdoors, so would make a great companion for someone who loves hiking. They do have high exercise needs, and will need some good mental stimulation too. This gives them a job to do! Great examples of enrichment include snuffle mats and puzzle toys you can buy at pet stores. This should keep them exhausted. A tired dog is a happy dog!
