North American breeders started crossbreeding French Bulldogs and Chihuahuas in the early 2000s. This resulted in the French Bullhuahua mix, also called the Frencheenie, Chibull, and the Mexican Frenchie. Although it started as a designer breed, quite a few rescue organizations for this mixed breed have popped up in the last few years. You also might be able to find a French Bullhuahua at your local shelter. If you do decide to buy a puppy, make sure you do your research and find an ethical breeder.
Since French Bullhuahuas are crossbred from two short-haired breeds, most have short, smooth coats. They come in a variety of colors, too. Their coats are easy to groom, and do not shed as much, making them great for allergy sufferers. A once-a-week brush will keep them looking great. With small breeds, dental health is very important. Make sure to brush a French Bullhuahua’s teeth daily.
A Friendly Dog
A French Bullhuahua will have an average amount of energy. They also have playful dispositions. Daily, half-hour walks plus devoted play sessions should help them burn off energy. Consider using a harness on walks instead of a collar to take pressure off their windpipe.
French Bullhuahuas do best in smaller families with older children, or kids used to dogs. They tend to be a bit wary and vigilant around strangers. Those who know them know they are super affectionate towards the people they love. Though they’re playful, they’ll also love cuddling up with you at the end of a long day.
