French Spaniel Puppies

There’s a lot to love about the French Spaniel. This dog breed is a purebred that was initially bred to be a hunter. They almost went extinct way back in the day before a French Priest began producing them again. Today, they’re known for being friendly, intelligent, and gentle. If you want to learn more about French Spaniel puppies, then keep reading.

Where to get French Spaniel Puppies

French Spaniels are purebred dogs, so they’re recognized by the American Kennel Club. When searching for this doggo, you can go through a reputable breeder and begin your search on the AKC Marketplace. You’ll be able to tell a good breeder from the rest because they’ll do the following:

  • Socialize and train the puppies as early as possible
  • Ensure the puppies are up to date with all of their vaccinations
  • Want to meet with you in person to get to know you and for you to meet the parents and the litter
  • Be knowledgeable in everything so they can answer all your questions about the process, the breed as a whole, and their experience and reputation as a breeder
  • Health screen and genetically test the dogs before breeding to ensure it’s safe (and then get the puppies tested)

In addition, an ethical breeder will have health documents and family tree history to give to you to bring home upon adoption. Also, they’ll have the dogs and puppies living with them in their home as part of the family.

If you find a breeder who does not do the above, they might be a puppy mill or a backyard breeder. You’ll want to avoid them since they don’t breed the dogs in healthy or safe conditions. Also, they’re more interested in making a profit rather than finding good homes for the puppies.

Finally, you can try calling your local animal shelter or rescue organization. They might have French Spaniel puppies, adults, or seniors available.

The Cost

The average cost for a French Spaniel puppy is about $600 and $1,000. The price may vary, depending on the breeder’s location, the breed’s popularity, the number of puppies in the litter, the time of year, and more. However, if you go through a shelter or rescue, the price will be lower. Augieandboo…

French Spaniels are the largest of the Spaniel breeds. They’re medium to large, growing to be about 21.5 to 24 inches tall. Also, they weigh between 50 and 60 pounds.

Also, they have a smooth coat that’s medium in length. It can also come in a couple of coat colors and markings, such as:

  • White & Brown
  • Brown
  • Roan
  • Spotted or Patched

If you’re looking for a great family companion dog, then this breed might be it. French Spaniels are known to be loyal and affectionate with their family members. For example, they’re excellent with young children, great around other dogs, and love meeting new people.

They’ll need early training and early socialization like any other dog breed, but training will be a breeze and a fun bonding experience for the both of you.

Also, this breed is adaptable and can live in an apartment. They don’t bark too much. They only get your attention when they’re excited about something. Although, they do make average watchdogs and bark to alert you of something.

However, a bigger house with a fenced-in yard will be better. They’ll need plenty of room to stretch their legs, and they have high energy levels. You’ll want to provide them with at least an hour or an hour and a half of playtime and exercise every day. Henry…

French Spaniel Puppies – Veterinary Needs

As a puppy, for the first year, you should bring your French Spaniel to the vet a couple of times to keep track of their growth and development. Also, you’ll be able to keep them up to date with their shots and boosters. Then, for every year after that, you can bring them to the vet once a year for their annual checkup.

For instance, this dog breed is known for getting a few health issues, such as:

  • Acral Mutilation & Analgesia
  • Epilepsy
  • Entropion
  • Hip Dysplasia
  • Otitis Externa

Your French Spaniel has an average lifespan of about ten to 12 years with proper care. Khchilds…

You can feed your French Spaniel anything that your vet approves. Also, make sure the food is appropriate for their breed size, age, weight, and metabolism. For example, you can provide them with high-quality kibble or canned wet food from a commercial dog food brand or homemade dog food.

With this dog breed, grooming is minimal. They’re relatively clean, so that you can bring them to a professional grooming salon once in a while for a bath. Otherwise, you’ll only need to brush their coat weekly to keep shedding at bay, trim their nails, brush their teeth, and clean their ears regularly.
