If you want to look through some Greater Swiss Mountain Dog photos, you can do so here.
The Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs was developed in the Swiss Alps, as you may be able to tell from the name. They are tricolor, with their coats being black, white, and rust. They have short, straight fur. This breed of dog is large and can get up to 140lb, but don’t let that fool you. They’re still very muscular and agile for their size, and they were once the most popular breed in Switzerland.
Despite their size, this breed has varying energy levels. Some of them are very active and need a lot of exercise, and some are content with just a daily walk.
A Friendly Dog
What doesn’t vary among this breed very much is their love of people. These are what’s known as velcro dogs, who will always want to be by your side! If you’re looking for an affectionate partner in crime who will stick to you like glue, look no further. They are working dogs, though, so having a job to do is ideal. Provide them with plenty of enrichment and mental stimulation.
They also tend to be watchdogs. They’ll keep an eye on home and bark when anything’s amiss. While this can be very handy and is something many people actually want in a dog, you should bear it in mind when getting one.
