The Plott Hound is part of the hound group and one type of Coonhound. They’re known for being loyal, intelligent, and alert. This purebred was originally bred for game hunters. Also known as the Plott, this doggo can grow between 20 and 25 inches tall and weigh between 40 and 60 pounds, making them medium to large. Plott Hounds make excellent family companion dogs. For example, they’re affectionate with their family members, great with other dogs, and are open to meeting new strangers. Also, they’re good with kids but will need plenty of training, socialization, and supervision around them. Luckily, this pooch is easy to train.
Also, Plott Hounds love to bark, and they have high energy levels. Therefore, they need plenty of physical activity and mental stimulation every day. Unfortunately, they won’t do well in an apartment. This pooch needs a bigger home with a fenced-in yard where they can roam around. Frequent trips to the dog park will also be fun for them.
