If you’re looking for an adorable small dog breed that will make a great family pet, then you can certainly look into the Pomapoo. This doggo is a designer dog (mixed breed) of the Pomeranian and the Toy Poodle or Miniature Poodle. But, if you want to learn more about Pomapoo puppies, then keep reading.

Where To Get Pomapoo Puppies

Since this dog breed is a crossbreed, the American Kennel Club does not recognize them as a breed. So, you won’t be able to look for ethical breeders on the AKC Marketplace. However, you can research reputable breeders on your own. For instance, you know you have a good breeder if they do the following: Honey…

  • Socialize and train the puppies as early as possible
  • Ensure the puppies are up to date with their vaccinations
  • Be able to answer all of your questions about the process, the breed, the parents, the litter, or the breeder themselves
  • They’ll want to meet with you in person and allow you to meet the parents and the puppies
  • The breeder will have health documents and family tree history available for you to take home upon adoption

In addition, a good breeder will ensure breeding the parents is safe and healthy. For instance, they’ll health screen and genetically test the parents before breeding. Then, after, they’ll do the same tests on the puppies to ensure they’re healthy as well.

If a breeder doesn’t do the above, they might be a puppy mill or a backyard breeder. These breeders are more interested in making a profit rather than finding good homes for the puppies. Also, they don’t breed the dogs in healthy or safe conditions. So, be sure to avoid these breeders.

On the other hand, you can call your local animal shelter or rescue organization. They might have Pomapoo puppies, adults, or seniors available for adoption. Barkansbabies…

The Cost

You can expect to pay anywhere between $400 and $1,800 for this designer dog. However, the price can be more or less depending on a couple of factors. For example, the cost can change based on the breeder’s location, the number of puppies in the litter, the time of year, how popular the breed is, and more.

Pomapoo puppies are small dogs. They can grow to be about eight to 12 inches tall and weigh between five and 15 pounds. In addition, they have a hypoallergenic curly coat that can be short or medium in length, depending on which parent breed they take after. Also, the coat can come in a few different colors, such as:

  • Black
  • Red
  • Gray
  • Cream
  • Fawn
  • White
  • Brown
  • Chocolate
  • Liver
  • Gold
  • Yellow

In addition, their coat can have markings such as brindle, sable, bi-color, or tri-color. Udon…

There’s a lot to love about the Pomapoo because they take some of the best traits from both parent breeds. For instance, they’re loyal and affectionate with their family members. In addition, they’re great pets for young children, singles, or seniors. They’re also open to meeting other dogs and strangers. But, of course, this dog breed does need early training and socializing.

Pomapoos are well known to be gentle, friendly, outgoing, and playful. There will never be a dull moment with this pooch. In addition, they’re great for first-time dog owners, easy to train, and apartment-friendly. They’re active dogs but don’t require too much exercise, so you can get away with bringing them for a daily walk to keep them healthy and fit. Barkansbabies…

Pomapoo Puppies – Veterinary Needs

As with all dogs, you’ll want to bring your Pomapoo to the vet a couple of times during their first year. Together, you and your vet can track their growth and development. Also, you can keep your puppy up to date with their shots and boosters. Then, every year after that, you can bring them to the vet about once a year for their annual checkup.

With proper care through nutrition, exercise, and regular vet visits, your Pomapoo has an average lifespan of about 12 to 15 years.

However, this hybrid is prone to some health issues. For instance, you’ll want to be wary of the following health conditions:

  • Patellar Luxation
  • Epilepsy
  • Cataracts

Since this doggo is so small, they won’t need to eat too many calories during the day. So, if they overeat, then they can be prone to obesity. Besides keeping an eye on their calorie intake, you can give this dog breed any dog food with your vet’s approval. Also, make sure the food is appropriate for their breed size, age, weight, and metabolism.

For instance, you can give them high-quality kibble or canned wet food from a commercial dog food brand or homemade dog food.

Even though this dog breed is hypoallergenic and they don’t shed, they do require regular grooming. Depending on what type of coat they inherit, you’ll want to bring them to the groomer’s at least once a month for a good bath and cleaning. Also, they need their teeth brushed, nailed trimmed, and ears cleaned regularly.
