Can Dogs Eat Puppuccinos?

Just like you would treat yourself to an ice cream cone or cup of coffee, you can also treat your furry friend to a puppuccino. Your dog deserves a treat once in a while that isn’t their typical dog biscuit. Puppuccinos, especially on a hot day, is a refreshing snack for your pooch.

Before you try getting this tasty treat for your doggo, be sure to talk to your veterinarian about it first. Once you get the go-ahead from them, it’s time to get a puppuccino!

What is a puppuccino, and what’s in it?

A puppuccino is a small sample cup of Starbucks whipped cream, specifically made for dogs. There’s nothing else in it – no coffee, tea, caffeine, or anything else. Likewise, there are no harmful additives that are bad for dogs.

According to Starbucks, their puppuccinos are made of milk, cream, carrageenan (to keep the liquid mixed), and mono & diglycerides (to keep the texture right). It sounds intimidating, but it’s all pet-safe.

Are puppuccinos healthy for dogs?

While whipped cream is the healthiest food you can give your pooch, it typically finds for them to consume. It’s safe when given to them in moderation. So, can you go out ordering puppuccinos every day? No. This is a snack that’s best for once in a while.

Everything that’s in a puppuccino is safe for your doggo to eat. However, if your furry friend has digestive issues or if they’re lactose intolerant, then it’d be a good idea to stay away from puppuccinos. Even though they come in a small sample-sized cup, the cream and milk may hurt your pup’s stomach.

Where can you get your dog a puppuccino?

Starbucks is the only place that has the puppuccino. So, if this is something you want to treat your pooch to, then Starbucks is the place to go.

However, other shops have similar food items for dogs. So, if there are no Starbucks in your area or close by then, you can head to some other places.

puppuccino: the complete guide

For example, Dunkin’ has puppy lattes. These are similar to the puppuccino, which whipped cream in a sample cup. Shake Shack has the pooch-in, which is a few dogs treats mixed in with vanilla custard. Finally, Dairy Queen has pup cups, a dog treat in the middle of vanilla ice cream.

The best part about getting a puppuccino, though, is that it’s free of charge. So, whenever you’re running errands and on your way home and decide to stop off for coffee, you can grab a quick puppuccino for your pooch, too.

Or, if your doggo is in the car with you, try getting them a treat on the way home if you’re making the stop.

However, if you decide to get your dog a puppuccin and don’t order anything for yourself, you may get charged for the puppuccino. Sometimes you’ll still get it for free, and if you do, be sure to tip.

How to order puppuccinos

Ordering a puppuccino is just as simple as ordering yourself a cup of coffee. All you need to do is ask the barista for a puppuccino or some whipped cream in a cup for your dog. They’ll know exactly what you mean.

Puppuccinos are part of Starbucks’ secret menu. So, this is something you’ll have to ask for directly, either in the cafe or at the drive-through. You won’t find any secret menu items, including the puppuccino, on the Starbucks app.

Or you can make your own

Alternatively, if you can’t make it to a cafe, you can make your own homemade puppuccino at home. Ordering a puppuccino through Starbucks is simply milk and cream. So, you can make the Starbuck Secret Menu Puppuccino Recipe yourself.

The puppuccino is plain, which is safe for your pooch. However, you can spice things up a bit for your pooch that’s still healthy and safe for your dog to consume. Just like how Starbucks has seasonal drinks, you can make pet-safe seasonal puppuccinos for your dog.

For example, try this Healthy Pumpkin Puppuccino during autumn. For the winter and colder months, you can make Gingerbread Puppuccinos or a Peppermint Mocha Puppuccino. Peppermint Mocha is a seasonal holiday drink at Starbucks, and this recipe uses goat’s milk and other ingredients safe for your dog.

Finally, here’s a dairy-free option. This is great if your dog has digestive issues or is lactose intolerant, but you still want them to be able to enjoy a puppuccino from time to time. This Coconut Whipped Cream recipe is pet-safe and tasty. Plus, it will make the perfect refreshing summer treat for your doggo.

Should you get puppuccinos for your dog?

A puppuccino is a tasty treat for your furry friend once in a while. But, while you might get a coffee for yourself on a daily, it’s not a good idea for your dog to have a puppuccino each day. Too much dairy can cause stomach issues, even if your dog doesn’t have digestive problems already.

If your pup has had a rough day or did well in a training class, for example, then be sure to get them a puppuccino as a small treat. If it’s a hot summer day, then you can certainly pick them up a puppuccino. One sample cup once in a while isn’t going to hurt them.

As long as your vet says it’s okay to give your pooch a puppuccino, your doggo will surely thank you later!
