The Shikoku is a purebred medium-sized pup that any household would be lucky to have as part of the family. They grow to be between 17 and 22 inches tall and weigh between 35 and 55 pounds. In addition, this pooch has an average lifespan of ten to 12 years. They’re known for being energetic and alert, so if you want to learn more about this doggo, then check out the Shikoku photos shown below.

Shikokus are independent. They’ll be affectionate with their family members and are good with young kids. Also, they’re open to meeting new dogs and people under certain circumstances. For instance, Shikokus need to be appropriately trained and well socialized. Luckily, this pooch is somewhat easy to train, though they do bark a fair amount.

In addition, the Shikoku has moderate energy levels and mental stimulation needs. Therefore, a daily walk will be enough to keep this doggo happy and fit. Also, they have a short double coat. It requires some grooming, and they do shed a moderate amount. You can bring them to a professional grooming salon once in a while or give them an occasional bath. However, if you want to keep the shedding under control, then weekly brushing will be ideal.
