Hope was attacked with a machete and a nail gun and had completely shut down. It took weeks to get her to come out of her shell, and even longer to behave anything like a typical dog...
We knew Hope couldn’t go back on the streets so it was the best day of her life when she met Steffy, a tourist who was volunteering on the island. Steffy fell in love with Hope, extended her travels by months to travel home with her, and continued bringing her out of her shell. Hope and Steffy now live near London and enjoy exploring the countryside together.

While most street dogs who need medical attention can be back with their packs within the day, some need more serious medical attention.
These are the dogs who come to stay at our sanctuary at Happy Doggo Land. Dogs who have been hit by cars, who have been badly abused, or even need to lose some weight, come to us for care and rehabilitation. Often, they’re able to go back and live their lives normally but sometimes they’re rehomed. In this case, they stay with us until they’re ready to travel.
