Niall chanced across McMuffin when a local man beckoned him over to his house. Behind some wood was a dog covered in tumours and close to death. It turned out McMuffin had cancer and we thought the only thing we could do was keep her comfortable until the inevitable happened…
But McMuffin had other ideas. Not only did she survive, she thrived. We thought she’d live at the land forever until Sabrina and Dom came to visit. They fell in love with McMuffin and, despite her ongoing health worries, decided she needed to come live with them. McMuffin travelled to Germany and now lives a charmed life with her parents and cat siblings, begging for food and going on beautiful hikes.

While most street dogs who need medical attention can be back with their packs within the day, some need more serious medical attention.
These are the dogs who come to stay at our sanctuary at Happy Doggo Land. Dogs who have been hit by cars, who have been badly abused, or even need to lose some weight, come to us for care and rehabilitation. Often, they’re able to go back and live their lives normally but sometimes they’re rehomed. In this case, they stay with us until they’re ready to travel.
