Phoenix and Faith!

When they were first found, you could barely tell they were dogs. They had been kept in cages for years and their fur was matted with their own excrement. Faith also had a cut below her eye with maggots crawling in and out of them. Because they had been neglected and left in cages for so long, their fur was like cement and they needed sedation and hours at the vet for an emergency groom.

Phoenix and Faith

Thankfully, it was a big success and they started feeling much better. We initially thought Faith had to lose one of her eyes but she beat the odds! She is blind in one eye but remains healthy. Faith got adopted to Ireland, and then her adoptive mother's best friend then adopted Phoenix! Their adoptive parents live down the road from each other so Faith and Phoenix will still get to see each other. It's the best ending we could have wanted for these two.

Dogs at our sanctuary

While most street dogs who need medical attention can be back with their packs within the day, some need more serious medical attention.

These are the dogs who come to stay at our sanctuary at Happy Doggo Land. Dogs who have been hit by cars, who have been badly abused, or even need to lose some weight, come to us for care and rehabilitation. Often, they’re able to go back and live their lives normally but sometimes they’re rehomed. In this case, they stay with us until they’re ready to travel.
