We found Tina chained up and abandoned after years of being used for breeding. She was emaciated and broken-spirited and we didn’t even realise she was a golden retriever at first. Tina looked so ill we thought she was close to death...
But when we got her back to the land and cleaned her up, it was clear Tina was a special dog. She embraced every minute of life, constantly following the Happy Doggo gang around and making friends with every dog at the land. Sadly, just a few months after finding her, we discovered Tina had a life-ending kidney disease. Although she was only with us for six months, Tina changed the course of Happy Doggo. Because of her, we decided to open a hospital for sick dogs on Koh Samui called "Tina's Hospital" and accelerate our sterilizing programmes to stop as many dogs as possible from having to live like her.

While most street dogs who need medical attention can be back with their packs within the day, some need more serious medical attention.
These are the dogs who come to stay at our sanctuary at Happy Doggo Land. Dogs who have been hit by cars, who have been badly abused, or even need to lose some weight, come to us for care and rehabilitation. Often, they’re able to go back and live their lives normally but sometimes they’re rehomed. In this case, they stay with us until they’re ready to travel.
